On each occasion the fine weather made Glenlivet look quite spectacular but I think it is probably your excellent kitchen that really clinched it. In my view you are doing an extremely good job there and I know that if nobody tells you this is the case you sometimes wonder why you bother!

I am writing to thank you and all the staff for the fantastic evening we spent with you to celebrate John's 70th Birthday.  The whole event was perfect from the greeting at the door by the piper, the exquisite private room, the table settings and the lovely natural flower arrangements.  The staff were superb, the food some of the best we have ever tasted and your wonderful South African wines delicious.  This may sound fulsome but the evening was perfect and will remain in our memory bank for ever.  We look forward to our visit to you at Easter. The night at Minmore was my wife's present to me for Christmas.  We travel and use hotels a lot and learnt to focus on what's unique/unusual/best about any venue; and for Minmore that's the food and Lynne and Victor's hospitality.

Dinner was excellent: four courses, nicely paced, great ingredients and perfect preparation.  The wine list is extensive for a place of this size: we had a very good Chablis
Breakfast likewise was excellent, all the normal choices are there (the fresh fruit was terrific given that it was December), but I had Scrambled eggs with Smoked Salmon as a "lighter" option than the full monty Minmore.

But the exceptional meal that you must fit in is the high tea.  Lynne's pastry is melt-in-the-mouth ambrosia! Mince pies, shortbread, elegant sandwiches.

What a perfect place!  The ambience is very special, the sense of history and enterprise (being the home of the first legal distillery in Scotland) very appropriate..and the service was first rate.  Victor is a star with the quality of his food and the anticipation that he builds beforehand and Lynne and her staff strike a good balance between being there when you need them and disappearing into the woodwork when you don't.  We really felt like we were being spoilt.

Great memories of good food, long evenings at the bar, trencherman's breakfast as fuel for the new day and striking scenery with plenaty of fresh air (with just a touch of malt in it!). Delicious soup too.

I'm already thinking of a reason to return.
